Visit Australia, the land down under

Whether it’s hiking through the untamed outback of Tasmania or watching the iconic turtles of the Sunshine coast go about their daily business, Australia has more to offer the discerning yacht traveller than a dozen lesser nations. And given the fact that it is the single largest country on the face of the Earth, this technically shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

Australia boasts more than 50,000km of coastline, though you never have to travel far to take in a whole new vista. From deserts to tropical forests to rugged mountains to lush pastures and right down to the 10,000+ beaches you’ll want to spend a lifetime exploring, it’s a little like visiting a different country every single day and somehow preferring each to the last. australia

Of course, the vast majority of luxury yacht charter adventures around Australia begin in Sydney – the harbor along being one of the world’s most iconic sights. It’s the idea place to get a feel for the Aussie way of doing things, with the city’s majestic skyscrapers and luxurious cosmopolitan living standards giving way to the cultural and historic gems the Australian population is so proud of. However, some would argue that it’s not until you set your sights a little further afield that you begin to discover the real Australia…cliché as the handle may be.

Must see – Great Barrier Reef

To take a trip to Australia without visiting the Great Barrier Reef would be an outright tragedy. You’ve seen it on the TV and may have a few postcards hanging around, but nothing can prepare you for the sheer scale of the Reef itself when you first set eyes on it. In fact, you’ll need to charter a helicopter for an hour or two to indulge in the most privileged and spectacular panorama of all – the view is one that will be burned into your heart and soul for life.

While in the area, those with a taste for true escapism as on Australia can offer it really must check out the Whitsunday Islands. Blessed with indescribable natural beauty and some of the best dive sites in the world, it’s quite remarkable that most of the coves and beaches you’ll come across will be 100% deserted and yours alone.

For a taste of the more developed side of Australia, head to the south coast where luxury and exclusivity take on entirely new meanings. And just when you may begin to think you’ve seen all there is to see of the coast, don’t forget there are 7.6 million square kilometers of Australia’s inland wonders to then set out and explore!
